Contrary to what people have come to believe, the direction of the rooftop is not the deciding factor for solar power production. Rather, it is the orientation of the panels that affects the electricity production. Even if the rooftop is not at an ideal location, one can make the most of its existing location. To do this, make sure to orient the panels in a way that maximizes electricity through solar.
Ideally, the solar panels of a rooftop solar system should be angled in a way that when maximum sunlight is incident of the roof, the panels should show peak production. This usually is determined by analyzing at what time of day is the roof getting direct sunlight. Then, one can estimate the location of the sun for that specific time period. Then, he/she can orient the panels in such a way that complete planar production can take place.
