Zunroof Tech Private Limited is a company working in solar domain. This company is based out of Delhi NCR and so there are many customers from this region. Power tariff and rates along with “how to read an electricity bill” are some of the common inquiries they make. And even though they do have a pretty good idea of these power tariff, they are never completely sure. So we thought of helping our customers and readers by writing this post about Delhi NCR’s power tariff.
Delhi’s current power tariff:
Delhi has three main Distribution Companies (DISCOMs) in different regions of Delhi. Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) also known as North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL), BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) and BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL). Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) regulates Delhi’s power rates. Capital’s electricity rates has seen many ups and downs in the past. DERC issued Delhi’s latest tariff order on September 1st, 2015. According to which Delhi’s present electricity(Domestic) rates are:
- Firstly starting from 0 to up to 200 units/month, INR 4/unit (INR 2* subsidized rate).
- Then from 201 to up to 400 units/month, INR 5.95/unit (INR 2.975* subsidized rate).
- 401 units/month to up to 800 units/month, INR 7.3/unit.
- 801 units/month to up to 1200 units/month, INR 8.1/unit.
- And finally from 1201 units/month and above, INR 8.75/unit.
In addition to that, Government of NCT Delhi also provides a very generous subsidy to the consumers. For consumers falling in the 0-200 Units/month slab will be given a subsidy of INR 2/unit. Moreover, consumers in the 201-400 Units/month slab will be provided with INR 2/unit for 0-200 units and INR 2.975/unit on consumptions above 200. Furthermore, No relaxations for consumers consuming more than 400 units/month.
Gurgaon and Faridabad’s tariff:
Both Gurgaon and Faridabad falls under the coverage of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN). And, the regulating commission of DHBVN is Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC). As per the latest tariff order released by HERC on May 17th, 2016, Gurgaon and Haryana’s current electricity rates are:
- For power consumptions from 0 to 50 units/month, INR 2.7/unit.
- 51-100 units/month, INR 4.5/unit.
- Furthermore, for bills reading between 101 and 500 units/month, INR 5/unit for 0-250 units and INR 6.05 for 251-500 units/month.
- And finally, for consumptions greater than 500 units/month, INR 6.75/unit.
Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad’s tariff:
Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) is the sole Distribution Company in Uttar Pradesh which is further disintegrated into smaller zonal units. UP’s power tariff as of August 1st, 2016:
- 1-150 units/month, INR 4.4/unit.
- then after 151 units/month to 300 units/month, INR 4.95/unit.
- for 301-500 units/month a rate of INR 5.6/unit.
- and at the end, for usage of 501 units/month and above, INR 6.2/unit.
